About the Film

This film will be a narrative feature film centered around a suburban New Jersey family’s struggle with their 19 year-old son’s addiction to heroin and the question of who is responsible for it happening. The film is inspired by the book, Life After You by Linda Lajterman, whose 19 year-old son, Danny, died when he used heroin that was laced with fentanyl. While Danny’s story was the starting point, we are interested in all sides of this epidemic and the film will take in many points of view. Our goal is to create a film that will engage and educate young people and their parents, while sparking a much needed dialogue among officials who are in a position to make a difference - educators, drug counselors, physicians (many of whom prescribe the painkillers that lead to heroin abuse), law enforcement and elected officials on the local, state and national level whose response so far to this epidemic has been ineffective.
